ROLE OF MARKET COMMITTEES IN FIXATION OF PRICES 

q Under Agricultural Produce Market Act 1939 and Rules 1940 Market Committees have no authority to fix rates and  control over prices. The prices are controlled under profiteering and Hoarding Act 1977. All the authority for fixation of powers vests with DCO of the District.

 

q    Presently under the directions of Administrative Deptt:, the Market Committees collect prices of essential and useable commodities / items, which are compiled  at Directorate General Agriculture Extension and displayed at Agriculture Marketing website i.e www.sindhagrimarketing.gov.pk  as well on Digital Boards installed at various 16 District on daily basis.  Also coordinating  with other functionaries for appraisal of prices to the consumer through Media also.

 

q  Further the Government of Sindh has constituted permanent price committee under the chairmanship of Zila Nazim vide Notification dated 15.04.2006, vide which the Assistant Director, Agriculture Marketing is nominated as member of the committee.
